All our experiences will be directly or indirectly empowering the people and protecting the environment by reducing negative impact and maximizing positive ones. Convinced that tourism is one tool among others to improve world peace, respect for human rights and the economic development, asgunfa is committed to the environment and people.
ethical features embedded in our Morocco trips are:
- Using local crew who are qualified Guides, support crew and drivers who are all extremely knowledgeable and experienced
- Trekking to remote sections of the High Atlas Mountains to support local communities
- Staying in smaller-scale locally owned accommodation or boutique hotels
- Buying locally produced food and drink, and dining in locally owned restaurants
- Minimising plastic waste wherever possible
- Careful management of limited energy and water resources
- Offering real life experiences which promote cross-cultural understanding
- Operating with a ‘leave no trace’ ethos – take only memories, leave only footprints
- Making a financial contribution to the environmental charity, High Atlas Foundation, as part of our business partnership.
we want our trips to be green
asgunfa supports the High Atlas Foundation initiatives to offset carbon emissions of our travelers and make a tangible, positive impact on the environment and the communities that rely on it.
The nurseries created and managed by the High Atlas Foundation are a great way to replant indigenous trees in the area. Moreover, they also serve to strengthen the many agricultural villages and communities in the region.
These nurseries raise different trees, including olive and carob, which are redistributed to schools, cooperatives, and small farmsteads to support their activities and further green parts of Morocco with the sorts of trees that can easily withstand the environment here.
The High Atlas Foundation also provides technical assistance, training, and workshops so small farmers in the area are aware of the best practices for sustainable agriculture.
Needless to say, this initiative not only contributes to environmental conservation but also fosters economic resilience and community development. It’s also worth noting the High Atlas Foundation’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering cross-cultural communication.
